Web App Creation at Hillarys
Imagining, designing and developing fun, data driven web apps
Hillarys are a UK retailer, offering made-to-measure window furnishings, and the marketing team had a fun way of approaching SEO for the business, creating stand-alone interactive web apps to be featured on media sites, and shared via social media.
Home Energy Quiz
The first project I picked up whilst working at Hillarys was the design of an interactive game, where users were asked to arrange a number of household items, ordering them based on what they think uses the lowest to highest amount of energy.
The process of creating the designs, that Lead Developer Joe Coulam could build from, included the creation of wireframes and mapping out the journey taken when playing the game. Then low fidelity designs displayed some styling elements, colours and typography using the wireframes as guidance, and high fidelity saw all assets created, including 40 household item illustrations.
Your Lifetime Spending
Have you ever wondered what you have spent so far in your lifetime? Well this web app can give you a good idea! For this project I managed both the design and development, with coaching and support from Joe when it came to working with Javascript and data.
Due to time constraints I was only able to fully illustrate the landing page, with vector stock imagery leveraged for a number of the spending areas.
